Elsewhere, a local art collective group, created by George Sheer, teamed with a local non-profit Action Greensboro group, led by Cecilia Thompson, are hard at work gathering $10,000 funding dollars along with the $10,000 they have already acquired to pull off a major art mural project.
The art mural will be located underneath the railroad trestle at Davie and McGee. Hopefuls would like to see the already local random chalk art project, now a true permanent work of art. Lights will be placed there to assure safety and to highlight the new canvas that will hopefully guide locals to cross those railroad tracks that have divided our city for too long. They are hoping this art project will become an everlasting bridge to cross the railroad tracks and to be a major conversation piece for Greensboro.
Locals are excited as they contribute ideas for the mural from history to the future. And all in agreement that it should capture the never-say-die spirit that transformed downtown from ghost town to party town. Finding a way to en-capture and portray ideas on this huge nine foot high, seventy-five foot long art mural will be an adventure all its own.
